Mission DanceWorks (formerly Sudbrook Arts Centre) is the new official home of Baltimore County Youth Ballet located at Sudbrook Magnet Middle School and Pikesville High School. Formed in 1983, Sudbrook Arts Centre dance education continues to stand as a superior institution for training aspiring dancers and creative thinkers. During its more than 30 year history, the Centre has developed dancers who have gone on to careers in professional companies and have won Maryland State scholarships and college scholarships throughout the country. Looking forward, Mission DanceWorks now leads the Centre into a new season by broadening the scope of local dance offerings with a full range of diverse programming for all ages and abilities. We believe that quality instruction is paramount to a well-rounded athlete and artist so we are pleased to bring in master teachers and professionals in the field of dance to share their gifts with us. As a non-profit school, Mission DanceWorks is unwavering in its commitment to enriching the lives of students of all abilities, which is why we are pleased to announce our new programs in DiverseAbility classes for students who may have various support needs physically or cognitively. Mission DanceWorks is excited to provide diverse performing opportunities for students via Baltimore County Youth Ballet and also the Special Olympics Dance Maryland among others. Our core goal is to prepare all students for life as a thriving, creative individual whether pursuing a professional career as an artist or passionately cultivating an appreciation for creativity and community in any profession and setting. Our program is known for its balanced support of academic education, integrity, and artistic excellence for over 30 years. Thus the Sudbrook Arts Centre program continues to nurture the next generation of thoughtful, diverse, and creative individuals of all career paths through Mission DanceWorks and its community of students, parents, teachers, and volunteers!

School year - September 12, 2017 through May 12, 2018

Creative Movement (Ages 3 & 4)
This class is geared for preschoolers to explore creative movement through music, develop physical and social skills, channel energy, and promote creativity, muscle development, and self-control while building positive self-esteem and confidence. It's a fun way to make friends, get moving and spark the brain's creativity!
45 minute class on Saturdays, 10:30AM - 11:15AM, at Windsor Mill Middle School
All Children must be 3 years old by August 31st, 2017

Ballet  A
(Age 5)  This introductory class will begin to illuminate the fundamental elements of classical ballet. Students will focus on interdisciplinary dance skills such as self-control, channeling energy, and muscle development, while learning age appropriate ballet vocabulary and putting it into motion in fun ways.
45 minute class on Saturdays, 11:15AM-12:00PM at Windsor Mill Middle School  
Creative Movement and Ballet A - $450 for school year ($56.25 deposit, $56.25 monthly payment, Oct. 1st - April 1st)

Ballet Level 1 (Ages 6-7)
 Students will deepen their knowledge of classical ballet while working on poise, balance and coordination. in addition to expanding upon the ballet vocabulary and building technique, this principal class introduces the importance of musicality and proper dance etiquette.
1 hour class on Saturdays, 12:00PM - 1:00PM, at Windsor Mill Middle School
Level 1 - $475 for school year ($59.37 deposit, $59.37 monthly payment, Oct. 1st - April 1st)

Contemporary Jazz I (Ages 7-9)
 Students will learn and expand on jazz dance foundations. Ballet and modern technique will be infused into the classic jazz dance to create a uniquely expressive movement style. The class will include focused work on turns, floor work and musicality.
1 hour class on Thursdays, 6:00PM - 7:00PM at Pikesville High School.
Jazz 1 - $500 for the school year ($62.50 deposit, $62.50 monthly payment, Oct. 1st - April 1st)

Acro I (Ages 8-10) Dancers will learn the basics of acrobatic movement as it applies to dance. Forward rolls, cartwheels, handstands, round offs and partnering work will be the focus of the class. Students will gain strength, flexibility, and the essential foundations for partnering, lifts and flips.
1 hour class per week on Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:00PM at Pikesville High School
Acro - $500 for school year ($62.50 deposit, $62.50 monthly payment, Oct. 1st - April 1st)

Dress Code
We believe that appropriate dress codes and shoe requirements are imperative to being safe and successful while performing dance exercises on a day to day basis. Please be sure to have the correct shoes and attire when in any given class. Descriptions are below. We thank you in advance for partnering with us to uphold our minimal requirements for the optimal success of every student!

Girls: Pink leotard (skirt optional), ballet tights that match your natural skin tone, canvas, split-sole ballet slippers.
Boys: Shorts, T-Shirt, white socks & slippers.

Leggings and/or tights, skirts/shorts when applicable, leotard/t-shirt when applicable, and jazz shoes
